Payroll Sunday, retired.
Somewhere in every small business there's a person who loses part of every weekend to timesheets. Ours got that time back.
The problem
Payroll prep is the same grind everywhere: pull the time-clock entries, total them, figure the overtime, sort the categories, format the thing so the payroll provider will take it, send it. It's not hard. It's just hours — landing on a Sunday, every pay cycle, forever.
What runs
Two automations handle it now:
- Sunday 10 PM, weekly: the week's time-clock entries become a clean spreadsheet — overtime calculated, hours categorized — waiting in the team's inboxes before Monday starts.
- Every other Sunday: a second version builds itself formatted exactly the way our payroll provider wants it — per-week overtime, hour categories, the works — and lands with the two people who submit payroll.
The numbers
The honest part
Not a brochure case study — a system I depend on. If you've got a version of this problem in your business, the Walk-Through finds it: a ranked list of the small wins sitting in your operation, no obligation to build any of it.
